The expanding the Field award is to be given for a conference paper presented at the World Congress of Scottish Literatures that diversifies the study of Scottish literatures in one or both of the following ways:
- centering on literary works by people of color, women, or queer writers
- employing methodologies from feminist, queer, decolonial, or critical race studies
The award would be open to postgraduate, early career, and independent researchers. ‘Early career’ would be defined as no more than 6 years beyond the awarding of the PhD.
Papers will have to be submitted in writing four weeks before the World Congress and awarded at the Congress.
